Robert Brunner
I grew up in Minot, ND. As an extremely overweight young man. At 15yrs old I was 5ft 9in tall & weighed 340lbs and couldn’t button size 50 pants. I was borderline diabetic & at high risk for stroke and heart attack at 15.
I met an extraordinary group of Men in their 30’s & 40’s at the YMCA who allowed me to workout with them and join their powerlifting team. I did competitive powerlifting for 18 years, and amateur strongman for 3 years. I was in good shape for 20yrs. Held multiple ND and national records in powerlifting for my age and weight classes.
I worked in the oil field for 16 years. Working 14-16hr days or nights doing labor intensive, high stress and dangerous work. In all weather conditions imaginable from 40 below zero, blizzards, thunderstorms, 100 degrees, to gorgeous beautiful days too.
In September 2017 I had a full right hip replacement. Leading up to that surgery I got laid off & lost my health insurance. I was forced to sell everything and got my truck repossessed. I had to file for Medicaid to cover my surgery. I did my own physical therapy and rehab, went back to work in the oil field 10 weeks after my full right hip replacement surgery.
Then in 2020 when Covid happened I got laid off again and lost my job like many others across the country did. I struggled to make ends meet and provide for my family. Suffering from depression, I was tired, lethargic, and had little energy.
January 2022 found out I had low testosterone. Started TRT “Testosterone Replacement Therapy” February 2022. By this point I had really let myself go physically as well as mentally and emotionally. April 14th 2022, I wore a tank top to the gym. My son time took a picture of me in the tank top. It instantly pissed me off and flipped a switch. That picture was the catalyst, my breaking point!
I could no longer look in the mirror and stand the sight of myself. I had to be a better Father, a better man and example for my sons who at the time were 15 & 18. I was fed up and tired of my own nonsense and bullshit. April 15th, 2022 started the journey to becoming a new man & new chapter in my life.
MAKING MASSIVE CHANGES IS NOT EASY! I knew exactly what to do and how to do it. Needed to make a plan, stick to it and execute. Embrace & trust the process.
December 28th, 2023, I had tummy tuck/skin removal surgery. While sharing my journey on social media I was having people reach out asking for help. My plan was to return to the oil field after recovering from skin removal surgery. I felt that I had so much more to offer and help others. God was calling me to help others!
March of 2024 I made the decision to walk away from the oil field after 16 years. Take the risk, do what God was calling me to do! Start my own personal training business to help people! I knew if I didn’t try that I would regret it forever.
I truly love helping people! Watching their lives change physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually is incredible!
